Wednesday Evening Programs

Old Trail Museum will continue to provide Wednesday evening programs throughout the summer months. We have not  confirmed our program dates and the presenters for the 2021 season .   Please watch the Choteau Acantha for further details.

Wild Game Feed

We are very excited about our Wild Game Feed Potluck that will be held on  March 20, 2021.  The event will be held in the   Rocky Mountain Convention Center at the Stage Stop Inn in Choteau beginning at 5:30 pm.  This event will  include a no host bar, potluck, silent auction and live auction.  The potluck features wild game prepared by some participants but is not limited to just wild game.  People are encouraged to bring all kinds of non-wild dishes too.  We hope to have a wonderful turnout for this event.  With the Potluck being held in the  convention center we will have so much more room to enjoy the meal and to view the auction items. This event is scheduled but is contingent on the health guidelines at that time due to the Covid-19 pandemic

Interpretive Tours of the Old North Trail

Four interpretive tours of the Old North Trail will be offered this summer.  These tours will be led by Dave and V.V. Shea, Alf Wiseman and David Hartman.  The dates have not been set for the 2021 season.    Times and dates will also  be published in the Great Falls Tribune Hot Ticket and the Choteau Acantha closer to the time of events. If you have not had the opportunity to go on one of these tours now is the time to sign up.  These tours are so informative and brings you back to the late 1800's and early 1900's and how our pioneers lived and where they lived.  There are many artifacts still there. Sign up sheets will be available at the Museum after it opens in May.  This event may be canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We will keep you posted.

Schoolhouse Rental

We have a new look to the School House.  It has been painted, carpets have been cleaned, we put up new curtains and took many photos out of the archives and hung them on the walls. It looks so nice. The Old Trail Museum board wants to let the public know that the Schoolhouse at the museum is available for a minimal rental fee. This is a great place to hold small parties, meetings and other events as there is a full kitchen, bathroom, meeting room and a deck and large lawn area in the back.  Contact the museum at 406-466-5332 if you are interested in renting the building.

New Dinoaaur Bone

Amazing Toys in Great Falls closed their business and in this store was a scapula bone from a Capatopsian Dinosaur.  Anyone interested in the bone needed to write up a request letter and the owners Dave and Diana Campbell would determine who received it.  Old Trail Museum was the recipient of the donated bone.  So come see our new display.  We thank Dave and Diana very much for this new (old) bone.

Hours of Operation:
Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day • Seven days a week • 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Closed July 4th)

We will keep you informed if COVID-19 will cause the Old Trail Museum to shorten days or hours
